What is Environmental Technology?
Environmental Technology includes any products or processes that can eliminate, prevent, reduce, or remediate negative human impact on the environment. These include processes that:
- Produce less waste
- Consume fewer resources
- Highlight efficiency
Environmental technology also includes innovative methods to clean up existing environmental problems or to safely dispose or recycle wastes. What’s more, environmental technology is a dynamic growth industry that is driving technical innovation and sustainable development.
Who should join ETC?
ETIC members include representatives from numerous private/public sector organizations involved with the following areas of sustainable development:
- Renewable and alternative energy
- Regulatory and environmental affairs
- Environmental consulting
- Air, water and waste management and pollution control
- Recycling, recovery and remediation
- Legal/legal firms
- Governmental agencies
- Academia
Recent ETIC success stories
C TRADE won a USAEP grant in the Philippines in 2004 for the installation of hybrid solar and wind technologies promoting the use of ETIC member company products namely, Global Solar flexible solar panels and Southwest Westwind Power (SWWP) wind turbines for rural electrification. This was followed by the Asian Development Bank short listing C TRADE for $800K project in the Philippines, and winning a $5M World Bank GEF project for rural electrification in Eritrea, using its “hybrid” system.
Arizona Department of Commerce (ADOC) and ETIC collaborate on numerous international business development exchanges between Arizona and Sri Lanka, Thailand, Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan, India, and eastern/central Europe that result in sales contracts or other business opportunities for its members.
ADOC assisted 3 ETIC member companies-ESP, SWWP, and C TRADE win three grants for commercially-driven activates of short duration in Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and India.
ETIC and the Arizona Department of Commerce have successfully partnered on three State Environmental Initiative federal grant projects totaling more than $500,000 ($150,000 Taiwan in 1997, $150,000 Philippines in 1999-2000, and $150,000 Sri Lanka in 2001-2002).
